2002 Boys Golf State Champions! |

| The 2002 Perryton Rangers Golf Team
traveled to Austin for the UIL State Golf Championships and brought back
the Gold to Perryton. After the 1st round was complete the Rangers were
holding on to a one shot lead over Sour Lake Hardin Jefferson. The Rangers
1st round team score of 313 was lead by junior Phillip Daniel firing an
opening round of 77 which placed him in 9th overall in the individual
race. Following Daniel's lead was Scott Shackelford, son of coach Danny
Shackelford, with a score of 78. Scott Roberson and Tyler Shiffelbein
turned in a pair of 79's while Tate Allred shot an 81.
Round 2 was nearly a repeat of round 1. The Rangers
fired a 314, one stroke higher that he first round edgeding out Sour Lake
Hardin Jefferson by 3 shots to claim the championship with 36 hole team
total of 627. Leading the Rangers
again was junior Phillip Daniel. Daniel fired a 73 which moved him into
5th place overall taking home "All State" honors with a 2 round total of
150. Following Daniel was Scott Shackelford who shot a 2nd round score of
80 to finish the tournament with a 2 round total of 158. Sophomore Tate Allred fired a 2nd round score of 78 and
a 2 day total of 159. Tyler Shiffelbein shot a 2nd round score of 83 and a 2
day total of 162. Rounding out the
Rangers was Scott Roberson shooting a 2nd round score of 84 and a 2
day total of 163. |
