College Scholarships

 

The following scholarships are offered by specific colleges/universities.  These scholarship applications are usually sent to our office each year.  When applying to any college/university, it is a good practice to go ahead and apply for any scholarships and financial aid at the same time.  However, no scholarships will be awarded until you have been accepted by the college/university. 

 

 

Amarillo College Foundation Scholarships  (Amarillo College)

Amount:

Requirements:

·        Must attend Amarillo College

·         See packet for particular requirements for each scholarship

·         Based on merit, achievement, financial need, and academic potential

·         Specific scholarships may require minimum grade point averages, minimum number of college hours, participation in school activities and/or community service, and other qualifications as specified by donors

Amarillo Texas A&M Club Scholarship (Texas A&M University)    No longer offered for residents of Ochiltree County as of 2009

 

Amount:        $1,000    (5 awards)

 

Requirements:

·        Must be a Senior, a transfer student, or a current Texas A&M University student

·        All Seniors must be attending a school in Region 16

·        All transfer or current students at Texas A&M University must be from Region 16

·        Must be able to show acceptance to Texas A&M University

Carr Academic Scholarship (Angelo State University)

 

Amount:        Ranges from $1,500 to $6,000

 

Requirements:

·        Must attend Angelo State University

·        Rank in the top 15% of the graduating class

·        GPA of 90 or above

·        Minimum SAT score of 970 or ACT score of 21

 

Deadline:      February 1    (Priority)

                        May 1 (if additional funds are available)

Clarendon College Scholarships (Clarendon College)

 

Amount:        varies

 

Requirements:

·        Graduating Senior

·        Plan to attend Clarendon College

·        Malouf and Iris Abraham Agricultural Scholarship -- available to students majoring in an agricultural related field

·        Malouf and Iris Abraham Business Scholarship -- available to students majoring in business or accounting

·        General academic scholarships have no restrictions on areas of study

College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Scholarship (WTAMU)

 

Amount:        up to $2,650

 

Requirements:

·        High school graduate or GED graduate

·        Minimum GPA of 2.0

·        Attend West Texas A&M University

·        Be identified as a migrant or seasonal farm worker or the dependent of a migrant or seasonal farm worker

·        Demonstrate a strong commitment to succeed

Collins, Carr P. Collins Scholars Program  (Baylor University)

 

Amount:        $3,500 per year, renewable for four years

 

Requirements:

·        Be admitted to Baylor University

·        Minimum SAT score of 1250 or ACT score of 28

·        Completed a balanced college preparatory including history, science, and a foreign  language

·        Top 25% of graduating class

·        Resident of the state of Texas

·        Principal or teacher nomination

·        Essay required

DeVry Institute Scholarship (DeVry Institute)

 

Amount:        $6,000 - $64,000

                       

 

Requirements:

·        Minimum ACT score of 24 or minimum SAT score of 1100

Harris,  Billy Bob Harris Scholarship (University of North Texas)

 

Amount:        $800

 

Requirements:

·        Student planning to attend The University of North Texas

·        Graduate of Perryton, Borger, Gruver, or Spearman high schools

·        Graduate in top 25% of class

·        Minimum SAT score of 1000 or minimum ACT score of 25

 

Deadline:      March 31

 

 

 

Koh Family Engineering Scholarship (Texas Tech University)

 

Amount:        $7,000 - $18,000

 

Requirements:

·        Must attend Texas Tech University

·        Must major in the field of engineering

·        Minimum GPA of 3.0

·        Minimum ACT score of 32 or minimum SAT score of 1400

·        Based upon outstanding scholarship, exemplary character, and meaningful extracurricular activities

Mesa Scholarship for Academic Excellence (WTAMU)

 

Amount:        $500 - $1,000

 

Requirements:

·        Student plans to attend West Texas A&M University

·        ACT score of 23 or higher or SAT score of 950 or higher

·        Rank in top 25% of class

·        Selection is based on academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular activities, and personal references

·        Enrolled as a full-time student

Mewbourne,  Curtis W. Mewbourne Leadership Scholars Program (University of Oklahoma)

 

Amount:        $20,000   ($4,000 a year for up to 5 years)

 

Requirements:

·        Attend the University of Oklahoma

·        Strong academic background

·        School and community involvement

·        Commitment to the oil and gas industry

·        Will be guaranteed a paid industry-related internship for the summer between the freshman and sophomore years in college

Oklahoma Panhandle State University General Academic Scholarships (OPSU)

 

Amount:        Varies according to particular scholarship

 

Requirements:

·        Must attend Oklahoma Panhandle State University

Rural Health Education Stipend Program  (Texas Tech University)

 

Amount:        $2,500    (renewable for up to 4 years)

 

Requirements:

·        Must attend Texas Tech University

·        Must pursue a health care career, (doctor, nurse, pharmacist, physical therapist, etc.)

·        Must show a substantial commitment to practicing in a rural community

·        Priority is given to applicants who reside in rural Texas counties

·        Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2

·        Applications are only available on-line at the web site indicated below

Tech Prep Association of Texas Scholarship (Amarillo , Clarendon, or Frank Phillips College)

 

Amount:        varies

 

Requirements:

·        Must be enrolled in, or must have completed, a state approved Tech-Prep coherent sequence of courses in which a minimum of two courses articulate to a community or technical college or a technical school or lead to an apprenticeship

·        Must have participated in or be enrolled in a work-based experience

·        Must attend Amarillo College, Frank Phillips College, or Clarendon College

·        Essay required

Texas A&M University General Academic Scholarships (Texas A&M University)

 

Amount:        Varies according to scholarship

 

Requirements:

·        Applicant to Texas A&M University

·        Rank in the top quarter of the graduating class

·        Requirements vary according to scholarship

·        Only one application has to be submitted to apply for all scholarships

 

Deadline:      December 1

·        Attend Texas State University

·        Based upon academic awards and honors, leadership activities, and extra-curricular activities and awards

University of North Texas Multicultural Scholastic Award (UNT)

Requirements:

·        U.S. citizen or permanent resident

·        Must be an entering Freshman student attending the University of North Texas

·        Minimum ACT score of 21 or minimum SAT score of 1000

·        Graduate in the top 25% of graduating class

West Texas A&M University General Academic Scholarships (WTAMU)

Requirements:
